I recently sat with a group of beginning teachers as they reflected on a professional development session that they had with Dr. Yeap Ban Har.

We then talked through each of their take aways, and I saw how their thinking and teaching had shifted since their professional development session. They were spending time finding rich questions and "juicing them" (their words) to help their students understand concepts. They were telling their students stories and helping them understand how math is a part of our every day lives. They were giving their students time to talk and think and "play" with objects, and then reflect on their learning. I'm looking forward to visiting their classes soon and seeing this all in action!
