As professional educators, we will hear just about any and everything from our students. Our days are filled with tattle telling and the varied details about their family life that often sound like TMI (too much information). Our students understand the importance of communication and social interaction. Even with all their time on social media they still continuously talk to their peers.
We must learn to do the same. Nearly 50% of all teachers and nurses report high daily stress levels. Communicating with others helps to relieve stress. Most times you feel better after a good conversation with the right person.
Our challenge this week is to speak with a good friend, a partner or a family member. You could even look in to talking to your doctor or a trained therapist.
Here's a bit of trivia for ya...Did you know that talking to your mother can help relieve stress? It most certainly can! The sound of your mothers voice releases oxytocin and is great stress relief. If you feel highly stressed this week make it a priority to talk to someone at work or elsewhere. Or simply, call mom.
Be kind to yourself,
Kecia
